Where To Stay In Cajamarca

The lush, fertile valleys of the Department of Cajamarca have been agriculturally important for centuries, and the accommodation options reflect this. One can stay on a working farm, or in a former hacienda (ranch house).

There are also more conventional town centre properties, especially in the city of Cajamarca, itself.

For a wellness experience, on the city's outskirts, one can stay at a spa with its own natural, hot springs.

If making the spectacular overland journey to or from Chachapoyas, there are basic hotels in the sleepy town of Celendin.

Another approach to Gocta, Kuelap and all the attractions in Amazonas, is via Jaen, in the north of Cajamarca province.

There are daily flights here to and from Lima, so you may need overnight accommodation, if arriving late or departing early … especially as it is a four-hour drive to Chachapoyas.
