This morning, we pick you up from Jaen Airport, and then make the drive - with breakfast along the way - to the sleepy town of Cuispes, where our accommodation is to be found.

The exhilaration of canyoning in Amazonas.

We have lunch at the hotel, and then spend the afternoon on a fully-supported canyoning tour of Pabellon Waterfall, which includes an abseil of 40 m (131 ft).

We return to Cuispes for dinner and overnight at La Posada de Cuispes, or similar.

Day 2: Trekking Giant Waterfalls Route; Lunch at Gocta (B, L)

This morning, after breakfast at the hotel, we set out to trek through the Jungle of Giant Waterfalls to Yumbilla, a hike of roughly two hours, through stunning cloud forest, with plenty of photo stops along the way.

We will be able to swim in the pools created by the waterfall, before making the trek through the rainforest back to our transport.

View of Gocta Waterfall’s two drops.

We then drive to Gocta Andes Lodge, where we have a delicious lunch, with views of the famous Gocta Waterfall.

After lunch, we continue to the city of Chachapoyas, where we check into our hotel.

Overnight at La Casona de Chachapoyas, or similar.

Day 3: Kuelap (B, L)

After breakfast at the hotel, we set off for Kuelap, driving south along the Utcubamba Valley to the village of Nuevo Tingo.

Residential quarter at Kuelap citadel.

Here, we take the recently-built cable car for 4 km (2.5 miles) up to the entrance of Kuelap, in order to begin our guided tour of the complex.
NB. We can usually arrange for the tour of Kuelap to be guided by a highly-knowledgeable local musician. Just ask us how.

We have lunch back in Nuevo Tingo at the end of the tour, before making the return journey to Chachapoyas.

The rest of the day is free to explore Chachapoyas city. It is recommended to make the short journey to Huancas, in order to see Sonche Canyon.
