Northern Peru Accommodation

There is a beguiling range of accommodation in Northern Peru, reflected in the multiple titles that may be used: hospedajes, pensiones, hostales, hosterías, casas, posadas, albergues, residenciales, lodges, inns, hoteles ... or even with no designation at all!

To help you negotiate this landscape, PeruNorth has put together a collection of our favourite properties for each Departamento (equivalent of a state) of Northern Peru and Amazonia.

We have chosen those hotels that we have visited ourselves, or have had recommended by clients. These range from beach resorts, to jungle treehouses, to small, family-run guesthouses with just a few rooms.

And while Northern Peru is not bursting with luxury properties, you can rest assured that all the accommodation mentioned has at least some rooms with private bathrooms and hot showers … with the exception of some Amazon lodges, where showers are sometimes room temperature – which is not exactly cold!

Demand is especially high nationwide during Christmas, Semana Santa (Easter), and Fiestas Patrias (on and around July 28 - 29). Local festivals, such as San Juan in the Amazon region and Carnaval in Cajamarca, can also fill hotels to capacity, and they may charge a premium at these times.

It is also strongly recommended that reservations are made well in advance for the June - August high season, especially along the Northern Beaches and in Gocta.
