Day 1: FOZ DO IGUAÇU

Upon arrival at Foz do Iguassu airport, you will be welcomed by an English-speaking driver-guide and transferred to your hotel.

Overnight at Selected Hotel in Foz do Iguassu – on the Brazilian side of the border.

Day 2: IGUAZU FALLS: Argentinean side (B)

After breakfast at the hotel, we take you on a full-day visit of the Argentinean side of Iguazu Falls, in a small group.

After crossing the border into Argentina, we enter Iguazu National Park, which covers a total area of 55,500 hectares (137,143 acres). It bears the name of the river which acts as its northern border, and means "great waters" in Guaraní language. Surrounded by a lush, subtropical Atlantic rainforest, we find the majestic Iguazú Waterfall. Consisting of some 275 cataracts, and with the sixth-highest average annual flow of any waterfall in the world, it is truly spectacular.

Using the network of paths and footbridges, we visit the heart of the waterfalls, appreciating them from different angles. On the lower circuit, the wet mist from the waterfall keeps us cool. The highlight of the upper circuit is the balcony overlooking La Garganta del Diablo (The Devil's Throat), an 80m (262 ft) fall.

Overnight at Selected Hotel in Foz do Iguassu.

Day 3: IGUASSU - RIO DE JANEIRO (B)

After breakfast at the hotel, we take you on a half-day visit of the Brazilian side of the Falls, in a small group. Similar to the Argentine side, the area is protected by the Iguaçu National Park, which consists of rainforest, rich in flora and fauna ... and of course, Iguassu Falls. At 185,262 hectares (457,794 acres), it is one of the largest forest reserves in South America and was declared a World Heritage Site in 1986.

Once inside the park, we will take a lift down to the base of the waterfalls at river level. From a 1,000 m (3,281 ft) long footbridge, we can admire the majestic Falls or go up a lift to the Salto Floreano viewpoint.

After the visit, we transfer you to the airport to catch your afternoon flight to Rio. NB. Flight price not included.

On arrival in Rio de Janeiro, you are met and transferred to the hotel by a driver-guide.

Day 4: RIO DE JANEIRO: Corcovado & Sugar Loaf (B & L)

After breakfast at the hotel, we take you on a full day tour in a small group to two of Rio's world-famous highlights: Corcovado and Sugar Loaf Mountain.

We begin with a visit to the iconic Christ Statue at Corcovado Mountain, in the morning, taking the funicular train through the rain forest of Tijuca National Park to the top of the 710 m (2,329 ft) granite peak, with its spectacular views of Rio and the surrounding countryside.

After the morning tour, we have time to relax and enjoy lunch at a local restaurant (included).

After lunch, we join the tour to Sugar Loaf, driving through downtown Rio, with its fine Colonial-style Portuguese buildings, to the cable car at Praia Vermelha (Red Beach). The ride to the top of Sugarloaf Mountain gives another wonderful view of the city nestling between the mountains and the sea, and the sight of the sun going down over Copacabana beach is magical.

For those wishing to sample some of Rio's famous nightlife and dance culture, there is the option - at additional cost - of dinner at a churrascaria (Brazilian barbecue restaurant) followed by a Samba Show at the famous Plataforma theatre.
