Wallen x 2 - Treehouse Lodge Testimonial

Read feedback from a young US couple from Moscow, Indiana who spent 5 days at Treehouse Lodge in August 2021:

“This was a great trip, and we sincerely enjoyed our time at the Rainforest Lodge.

Having a chance to wake up and sleep next to the birds and animals of the canopy was unforgettable.

There was an astonishing variety of flora and fauna to explore and learn about; and I would highly recommend this to anyone.

The food and level of comfort was impeccable, especially for a more remote area.

Thank you!

Here are some photos from our awesome time!:

  • What was your favourite cultural destination in the itinerary?

We loved visiting the village and interacting with the people who live on the Amazon.

  • What was your favorite natural destination in the itinerary?

Our favorite was the night hikes - super fun to see all kinds of animals!

  • Who were your guides? How did they perform?

Our guides were fantastic, very knowledgeable, enthusiastic and happy to answer questions.

  • Which was your favourite accommodation and why?

We loved our stay in the treehouse - so cool to be in the canopy!

  • Did you lose or gain weight over the course of the holiday!? Which was your favorite dish?

We did not lose/gain weight - we really enjoyed all of the food especially the heart of palm and the piranha.

I really enjoyed the catfish cooked in the palm leaf, too.

  • What forms of transport did you use? Pros/cons?

We went by car, boat and little boat - all were fine. It was a long journey to the lodge, but was well worth it!

  • Did your itinerary involve any hiking? How would you rate it in terms of difficulty?

We did hike, but it was all flat and not difficult.

  • What was the most pointless item in your luggage!?

Hmmm... we had some cold weather clothing we used for a different part of our trip.

  • What were your favorite natural encounters?

Loved seeing the sloth, and the pink and gray river dolphins!

  • Did you suffer any insect bites? Other physical discomforts?

Decent number of mosquito bites, but actually fewer than I expected.

  • Did you have much interaction with locals? Where and how did this occur?

We had some when we went to the village and purchased some homemade goods. They were great, but it was a little awkward because we were the only tourists there and it felt like we needed to buy something from each seller.

But mostly it was great, and they joked with us about who we spent more money with :)

One of our guides lived in the village and his wife gave us coconuts to drink and we played with the daughter. Pretty great!

  • Did you feel your money was going to local businesses and people?

Yes, I was glad to see that some of the money was staying local and the lodge worked to hire local guides.

  • Were you given any information regarding sustainability during the course of your trip?

There was some about it in the book at the lodge. Our guides also talked about some environmental issues and issues the local people are facing.”
