The White family from Greensboro, NC did an extended version of PeruNorth’s Tarapoto & Gocta itinerary in July 2026, with three nights at Pumarinri Amazon Lodge followed by four nights at Gocta Andes Lodge. Here are their comments on the experience:
Anne, from Edegem in Belgium booked an itinerary with nine nights in Manu, staying at four different lodges, and descending over 2,000m, by private vehicle and motorboat, to end in the low-jungle city of Puerto Maldonado.
After a night here, Anne was then off to another lodge, Chuncho, to enjoy its nearby kollpa on three separate mornings, before a final two nights beside Lake Sandoval.

The attractive Amazonas town of Leymebamba is gradually becoming a trekking destination - perhaps to rival Cusco or Huaraz, one day - as the region's remarkable archaeology reveals more fascinating ruins, set in stunning mountainous and jungle-covered locations, replete with flora and fauna.
The wonderful trek to Condor Lake is already well-known, although far from busy; and below are a selection of six further hikes that can be done, beginning in Leymebamba.
